I'm Deborah Carlisle Solomon, the author of “Baby Knows Best: Raising a Confident and Resourceful Child, the RIE® Way” and former RIE Executive Director.
I've taught parents and childcare professionals about Magda Gerber's Educaring® Approach for over 20 years, in-person on four continents as well as online.
Over and over again, I’ve seen how this time-tested, research-backed approach supports adults to better understand infants and toddlers, and to feel confident in their parenting and caregiving skills.

"I am a happier, braver, more trusting, and more confident mother. It changed me forever and I will be eternally grateful to Deborah."

"My thinking about caregiving shifted and opened me to a deeper understanding of how to connect with my child respectfully and lovingly. Deborah's guidance and knowledge are truly inspiring and she provided a safe space to ask questions."
Melissa B.

"I am not a big fan of Zoom classes. Most fell flat and I chose not to continue. Deborah’s class was consistently engaging from start to finish. Her wealth of experience was insightful and a joy to learn from. She took the steps out of RIE and invited us to embody the principles. Each concept was rooted in a video or experiential learning and given deeper ground through discussion. Each session was thoughtfully designed. From the first day of the course, I could see the effects of what I was learning and experiencing in my interaction with my son."
N. Galazka

"It's amazing how I feel more confident, more peaceful and more hopeful. I got a real paradigm shift, a real mindset shift, a real change of vision of what respectful parenting could be. I know what it sounds like, what it feels like, what it looks like and I have a clearer understanding of what it can be. I truly owe it to Deborah to parent in this way. Studying with Deborah transformed my relationship with my child."
B. Lipscomb

"Prior to the course, social media was the source of all my RIE learning, and I thought I knew a lot. I didn't realize how much more there was to learn. My understanding of Magda Gerber's Educaring® Approach is now so much wider and deeper, and it's clear that I could not have gained this kind of understanding via social media. Deborah explained things in such a way that brought great clarity and my confidence in implementing RIE principles has hugely increased."
G. Blohm

"As a professional nanny, I’m well versed in the demanding needs of infants and toddlers alike. The RIE® Foundations™ course afforded me an opportunity to meet with a likeminded but very diverse group to discuss principles as they applied directly to our lives with children. Deborah made the content accessible and facilitated discussions in ways that engaged participation from everyone in the room. I walked away feeling inspired, refreshed, and eager to learn more."
R. Miniotas

"Here at the Children’s Center, we believe strongly in the principles of RIE® and incorporate them into our practice in the Infant and Toddler classrooms. These principles of respectful caregiving and image of the child as capable and competent tie in strongly with our own tenets of Sense of Security, Sense of Belonging, Socialization and Guidance, and Learning through Play. We truly appreciate how beautifully Deborah conveys the message of self-respect and establishing confidence in the RIE tenets to the parents of our students."

"Without a doubt, the RIE® Foundations™ course was by far the most inspiring and empowering class I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending and Deborah’s method of teaching and warm character played a major role in the experience I had. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience and the support she has given me during the course as well as months after its end. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat."
C. Steinhoff
Winnipeg, Canada
"After learning as much as I could about RIE® on my own, I knew I wanted to go deeper. Signing up for the RIE® Foundations™ course felt like a leap of faith, but Deborah’s course exceeded my expectations on all counts. Deborah is a thoughtful and conscientious communicator. She easily wove theory, practice and real life scenarios into her discussions in a way that made Magda Gerber’s Educaring® Approach feel practical, enjoyable and even profound. What’s more, Deborah cultivated a warm and engaging discussion group. I appreciated that the course stayed true to Magda Gerber’s original approach, but was balanced by openness to new research and modern realities. I came away from the course with more introspection and purpose, eager to apply what I learned in my family and in my work."
A. Winick
London, UK
"Deborah imbued our class with an atmosphere of respect, indulged each and every one of our questions and concerns, and encouraged meaningful discussions on all aspects of Educaring. Her patience, grace, and tangible reverence for infants were truly inspirational and helped me internalize Magda’s teachings in a way that just reading could never accomplish."

I feel like I have a real professional in my corner with Michelle. Someone who really sees the truth… who isn't going to blow smoke up my skirt... who isn't going to lead me astray... who knows how to get me there... and I just need to trust her and go and deal with my demons that I've got... and work through it... so that the gifts that I have actually come out.”
My goals were to really get my business off the ground. I had a lot of things that were working in the background, but nothing that was really taking off.
Part of my problem was what you call the curse of genius.
“Okay, I know I've got something. I have no idea how to explain it.”
It felt like a guessing game. I was getting three second views before and then it would drop off. Now when I do a video, 50% viewer views are very common. And the 75% - 100% views have been starkly better.”
Executive Coach, Leadership Consultant & Keynote Speaker
“When I finally found Michelle, it was like that ‘aha’ moment of ‘this is someone who works really well with my style’. I have concrete, targeted actions of things to do every single week. She always over delivers on everything she provides.
And an important thing too is that Michelle never makes me feel like if things aren't going right, it's my fault. I'm doing something wrong.”
Psychologist and Founder of Living Well
“When you have the proper strategy going into your presentation, you can cast a wide net that can capture more than just individual sales, but have a ripple effect into different lists or different influencers that you never would have had otherwise.”
